Failure is a Stepping Stone to Success

Failure is not necessarily bad.  It is just a milepost that indicates that we are moving in a wrong direction to reach our goal.

Did you know that every airline trip is off course at least 90% of the time?  In order to reach the final destination; the pilot must constantly make minor corrections to get back on course.   You never hear or see the crew of an airplane scream or panic because they are momentarily off course.  Should we not also make corrections when we find ourselves going in a wrong direction?

A popular story about Thomas Edison and the light bulb is that after having over a thousand failures to find the correct filament to power his light bulb; a reporter asked about the failures.  He responded that he had not failed!  He had succeeded in finding one thousand filaments that would not work.  He knew that sooner or later he would find the correct combination of elements to succeed!

The thing we have to realize is that if we are pursuing a goal that is worthy we just have to keep trying.   We may have to back up and reassess or redefine our goal but we must persevere.

Nothing worthwhile is going to be easy.  You need to realize that you may have to alter your plans; do more research and plan your route in a different manner but if your goal is worthy, you will eventually reach it.

I am not saying this in a Pollyanna manner or being flippant about it but it is true; if you do not give up, keep planning and keep trying  and your goal is worthy you will eventually succeed!

Take a moment and watch this video about some famous failures and think about making your life a story worth telling.
